Joining Up Support

A character-driven animated brand film for West London Zone (AllChild)

West London Zone (now AllChild) wanted a brand animation to illustrate a child’s WLZ journey. They wanted the animation to be an explainer of their process and model of joining up a young person’s network, while at the same time telling the story of the child and their link worker.

We decided on a story where the child, Ella, is the protagonist at the centre of the story, and we follow their journey as they (and us the audience) learn the academics of WLZ’s model. We drew upon the shapes of the WLZ logo to act as diagrammatic metaphors enabling us to visually explain WLZ’s network model while remaining in the ‘world’ of Ella and Khalid.  

The result was an explainer animation which serves its factual, informative and practical function, while emotionally-connecting with the audience through characters.
