Bringing the impossible to life

Whether report artwork, or a bank of illustrated brand characters, we create accessible, inclusive and representative imagery that brings the impossible to life.

From invisible worlds under the microscope, to abstract data-driven concepts, to scenarios that don’t exist in a world that hasn’t caught up with your organisation’s vision, illustration fills that gaps that photography can’t reach.

How we do it

1. Client Briefing

During an initial kick-off call, we uncover your ‘why’ and the key messages you want to communicate and the key audiences you want to reach. This will also help us with our strategic recommendations for your illustrations.

2. Visual List

We compile a written list of visuals which determine what’s included in each scene. This is a collaborative process where we establish as complete a picture as possible for the scenarios, with the key messaging for your target audience front and centre.

3. Style Frames

Alongside the visual list, we use your brand guidelines to develop 2-3 style frames  - these mock-ups for the illustration style. You can choose which creative style you like the most and let us know any alterations you might like to make.

4. Compositional Sketches

Once the visual list is complete and we have an agreed style, we produce a set of draft sketches for each illustrated scene to establish the composition, actions and characters in each scene before adding detail.

5. Illustrations

Once the compositional sketches are signed off we start to ‘colour in’ the scenes and add details. Once the illustrations are complete and signed off we’ll export them in the desired or recommended formats to store or incorporate into any final materials.
