Dravet Syndrome UK invited Faltrego to create a film to show that families can have full lives, despite the incredible challenges of living with Dravet Syndrome, with the overall objective for more families to reach out to the charity.

The tone of the video needed to show the complex and difficult nature of Dravet Syndrome but have an uplifting tone which shows the joyful and hopeful moments among the challenges families face. The charity wanted to avoid traditional stilted talking-heads.

To show how much ‘little moments matter’ we weaved difficult and joyful moments into a complex tapestry of human experience, with a script focussed on both what families ‘don’t love’ and ‘love’. We co-created the script with families to be reflect their lived experiences. Subverting traditional interview set-ups, the filming was focussed on outdoor settings and natural greenery. Soft close-ups imbue moments with tenderness and intimacy, as we glimpse the playful, exploratory and relational experiences of the child, with POV shots bringing ‘little moments’ to life.

“It was such a pleasure to work with all the brilliant team at Faltrego. They understood our brief brilliantly and created a beautiful film which we have received so much positive feedback about from our supporters.”
